Ikea is coming. I repeat Ikea is coming!

In case you’ve been living in a hole the last year, Ikea is coming to Columbus. I REPEAT… Ikea is coming to Columbus and is opening in a week.

If you are like most of modern society living without an Ikea close to your zipcode, you’ve strategically planned an Ikea stop when travelling through a city with one within their borders. Personally, I’ve set aside a few moments from craft shows and family trips to grab odds and ends or bigger sets of furniture. Don’t tell grandma I left an hour early from one of my visits to pick up that couch she’s now sitting on while in town visiting me.

Crafters and shop owners LOVE Ikea. Their affordability, ease of assembly and modern designs have been a makers best friend for years. While one could argue sustainability of laminated particle board. The headaches involved with not so easy assembly projects or the looming traffic jam which will take over all of 71 during the first few weeks and months of the iconic blue building about to open it’s doors on June 7th.  I am ready to celebrate.  I look forward to browsing immaculately staged living spaces and kitchens. Pipe dreaming my way to a shop front I will never own with fixtures I will never buy.

For now and until the traffic dies down, I’m sharing some of my favorite Ikea hacks. Let’s meet up in the fall for some lingonberries and meatballs!

Is it a stool? Is it a side table? I don’t care but it’s cool as hell!
Slatted bed support turned into a vertical storage holder. Slow clap my friend. Slow clap.
The craft show organizer in me is swooning. The kids need this.
Get ready to modge podge the shit out of everything!

Simple, classic and practical. Yes please!
