Shop Review – Igloo Letterpress

Not everyone finds their passion at the young age of fourteen but Allison Chapman did just that when her grandfather introduced her to the art of letterpress. Fast forward to 2017 and Igloo Letterpress is a thriving handmade business that shares its love for this art form world-wide. Allison started working from her home and, after a move to Ohio, she opened a retail shop and studio in a historic building in Worthington. After about six years she and her team had outgrown their workshop and they were able to upgrade to a new location that more than quadrupled their space. With the new location, they were able to expand their retail and workshop space, and can now share the art of letterpress with even more people through finished products as well as dozens of class offerings.

At the front of Igloo’s space is Swoonful Gifts, their carefully curated gift shop that offers the entire Igloo line as well as work from about seventy local artists. Igloo’s collection includes hand bound journals, posters, notebooks, and just about any type of card you would ever need.

The gift shop has everything else – from handmade jewelry and soaps to accessories and apparel, something for everyone on your gift list. And, of course, the perfect, letterpress card to go with that gift!

Continuing through the shop, you will come across their expansive workspace. Igloo offers project based classes where you will walk away with an amazing hand bound journal or set of notecards among other options. They also offer skill based workshops where you are able to dive deeper into a specific skill such as letterpress, calligraphy or book binding. Allison and her staff are a wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of skills and your opportunities are limited only by your own imagination. Their beautiful workshop space can accompany groups as large as sixty people, the perfect place to schedule your next friends night out or team building event!

Along with their gift shop and classes Igloo also offers full design services for any personal or business printing. You can create custom business cards, print your restaurant’s menu or create a one of a kind invitation for your wedding or upcoming event. The possibilities are endless and the talented staff will work with you to get exactly what you want.

You can sign up for the Igloo newsletter at their website here to get all of the studio updates and follow along on social media to get all of the behind the scenes action. You can also see a full gallery of custom work they’ve recently done to inspire your next project!

That’s when she first started working in the fabric and sewing industry and her passion has grown as she continued to work for various textile companies for the past 10 years.
