What entertains you these days?Latest album I’m obsessed with is Run the Jewels newest album (RTJ4), and I’m always binging My Favorite Murder podcast episodes! AND OH MY GOD THE CROWN! Can we talk about how good that Hulu show is?!?
What was your first handmade experience? My mom was always a crafter. Whenever she started a new craft I was right there with her! My earliest memory of making handmade goods was beading with her. However, my first handmade obsession was with polymer clay, which I still adore.
What would you tell your future self? Remember you don’t know everything about the things you love. You don’t have to act like an expert!
Which do you prefer: Tacos or Pizza?Pizza with banana peppers and pineapple. Yes, I’m serious, try it! It’s sweet, salty, and delicious!

What entertains you these days? I’m reading “I’m Special” by Ryan O’Connell and I’m enjoying it as much as I did his show “Special” on Netflix. I’m also catching up on The Bold Type and The Politician.
What was your first handmade experience? I taught myself to draw, crochet, and use a bead loom years back. I couldn’t pick a craft, so I kind of taught myself a little about a lot of different mediums.
What would you tell your future self?Who cares what people think someone your age should be doing? Be silly and have fun.
Which do you prefer: Tacos or Pizza? Tacos! Any variety of beans, veggies, and cheese (but no green peppers- yuck!)

What entertains you these days?Children of Blood and Bone/Disney Jams Playlist/Animal Crossing/Critical Role
What was your first handmade experience? It all started with getting one of those art briefcases as a kid and has been a continuous art exploration ever since. My business started with jewelry but quickly transformed into fiber goods once I became addicted to hand embroidery.
What would you tell your future self? Breathe. As someone with panic disorder, that single word has a big impact.
Which do you prefer: Tacos or Pizza?Make it a taco pizza and you have the best of both worlds!
Local Charity you support: So many! I am located in Toledo, so Toledo School for the Arts, The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, and Mobile Meals of Greater Toledo are favorites. Recently, I have donated proceeds of sales to Black Art Futures Fund (national) and Project Row Houses (regional to Houston, but hosts artists worldwide). Also, in light of the pandemic, several months ago I used sales to buy gift cards from Sew to Speak in Columbus (love them!) and passed them out to followers who were making masks so they could order supplies.
How are your keeping busy these days? I read SO MUCH! I’m an online librarian of sorts full time and so always knowing what new books are coming out translates to devouring them. Right now I’m reading The Disaster Tourist, but faves as of late have included Speaking of Summer, The Museum of Modern Love, Frankissstein, The Revisioners, Why We Swim, Writers & Lovers, Future Home of the Living God, Everything is Horrible and Wonderful, The Ungrateful Refugee, and more. So many more. OMG this is getting long. It’s like a novel! Outside of reading, I love the game Scrabble, the artist Dessa, and though I am not as into TV as the other entertainment forms… I wouldn’t mind being invited to hang out with the cast of Schitt’s Creek or for dinner with Nadiya Hussain or anyone from Chef’s Table!
What was your first handmade experience? Something from my childhood that always sticks out in my mind was my dad helping me make a diorama to accompany my report on seahorses in elementary school. (Allegedly mermaids aren’t “real” (whatever?!?!), so this seemed the best and closest sea creature substitute!) That diorama was an artistic masterpiece – or so as I recall in my head – and I remember that maybe there was blue saran wrap water, some wiggly seaweed, and the seahorses were suspended with thread to look as if they were swimming. I would like to recreate this with him any day! So fun! Career wise… a class with Jane Lamanna in jewelry fabrication thanks to a scholarship from Toledo Museum of Art really kicked me into gear, and my experiences working for TSA and ACGT made me believe it was possible to call myself an artist… a thing I still don’t always have an easy time doing!
What would you tell your future self? Don’t sweat the small stuff? Which seems weird when you make JEWELRY?! But really… I am prone to anxiety and worry. It serves me in making well-made crafts as I really sweat the details for my customers, but a lot of times it gets in my way and can get a girl down! At 35… I’m still trying to figure out how to be easier on myself and those around me. Expectations are a b*tch! Also… always make time to play, and lead with love… those I am mostly good at :)!
Which do you prefer: Tacos or Pizza? Taco Pizza? Tacos AND Pizza? Why is this test so hard?! Fave tacos are alllllllll tacos, but much love for carnitas and shrimp with that simple, perfect combo of onion and cilantro. Pineapple works magic on both tacos and pizza! Pizza-wise, the more toppings the better and faves include banana peppers, olives (preferably green and black both!), and spicy Italian sausage.

What was your first handmade experience? My craftiness is inspired by my grandmother, who taught me to sew when I was young. She’s still my inspiration at 95! I used to own a knitwear design business in which my patterns were featured in both print and online knitting magazines.
What would you tell your future self?Slow down and stop trying to do and be everything at once.
